Happy Friday friends!!🙂 On June 20th, I had the opportunity to photograph Rachel & Brandon at the Country Club of York. This May they celebrated 6 years of marriage, and 11 years together! Below, Brandon has shared their amazing story! I smiled the entire time reading it, and I know you will too! I couldn’t wait to share more images with you all from our styled bridal shoot, along with a story of their journey together these past 11 years.
Rachel & Brandon – 3,947 Days

Some love stories start with couples when they’re in their twenties, thirties, and sometimes even their forties. Rachel and I crossed paths for the first time when we were just eleven years old. Fast forward six years later, the night was September 10th, 2005. We found ourselves aboard the Bay Lady Cruise, sailing along the Baltimore Harbor, a senior class tradition. Throughout the night, I couldn’t help but notice Rachel looking over at me. While Rachel likes to think she pulled the first move, it is quite the contrary. Like any sixteen year old, I had been telling Rachel’s friends for weeks that I had a crush (haven’t said that word in a while) on her. After her friends told her about my aforementioned crush, Rachel stopped talking and making eye contact with me in the hallways (she previously had). I assumed she wasn’t feeling the vibes I was throwing out (I know, I couldn’t believe it either). Well, there must be something about a teal Tommy Hilfiger Polo. That night, the shy Rachel was not present. It started with a stare from across the boat and then her pointing at me to come over. You can imagine my youthful sixteen year old self scooting across the dance floor like LeBron James in his prime. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for what was one of our last hoorahs as students at North Carroll High School. That night, September 10th, would be the beginning for me, the beginning of the rest of my life. From that day forward, we have been a couple. For those of you keeping track at home, that’s 3,947 days that we have been together. There has not been a day since, when we have not spoken.
In between those 3,947 days, a lot has happened. After three years of dating, I took Rachel to the same boat where our love first started. It was there that I asked her to marry me. In the years that followed, we bought our first home, got married, and welcomed two beautiful kids into this world. Rachel is an amazing cosmetologist and she knows how to doll herself up (not that she needs it). What she doesn’t know, is that she never looked more beautiful than when she held both of our children after they were born. It’s what we always wanted. As odd as it sounds, we talked about getting married and having children within three months of dating each other. I think you just know sometimes.
The past eleven years have gone by fast. I’ve learned more about women’s clothing, make-up tutorials, keratin treatments, and hair products than one man should ever know. Rachel has learned more about the NFL, NBA, and songwriting than most people would prefer to know. One thing that didn’t take eleven years to learn was how to love each other. I certainly didn’t need 3,947 days to write about how I feel. We both knew from Day One how we felt. I always think to one of my favorite quotes from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. It goes…“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t slow down and look around, you might miss it”. Since our relationship has started, we’ve made it a point not to miss “it”.
